Trail Boss is a mapping tool, navigator, and trip recorder for the outdoors enthusiast.
Trail Boss is ideal for:

- Several map styles. Our High Contrast Topographic style is extremely clear, uses large text, and highlights what is most important for backcountry navigation. It is easily readable in direct sunlight.
- Maps include a huge number of hiking, biking and ski trails with world wide coverage.
- In addition to streets, satellite and topographic maps with world wide coverage, you can use maps from the many map servers around the world. We have included these government maps: USGS National Map, NOAA Nautical Charts, NRC Atlas of Canada, Geoscience Australia, IGN France, IG Spain, NG Netherlands, LT Sweden, KT Norway, NGI Belgium, GT Luxembourg. We are constantly on the lookout for more. If you find a map server that you want to use you can add it yourself (see our FAQ for instructions).
- Download maps for offline use.
- Share trips with your friends or web services such as Strava.
- Import trips from other sources. Google Earth and GPX formats supported.
- Pre-plan routes that follow roads and trails, or trace out your own route.
- Get guidance when you're out on the trail using:
• any of your previous trips
• routes created with Trail Boss's measure tool
• routes imported from other Trail Boss users
• routes imported from Google Earth or GPX files
- Add placemarks to the map to mark points of interest. An audible alert can be sounded when you approach a placemark.
- See combined trip totals for multiple trips (time, distance, climb heights, etc). For example, a fitness user could set it up to show the total distance/time that they biked in the last week.
- Join a Trail Boss group and share your location with group members.
Trail Boss is not tied to a web site. You don't need to make an account and give away personal information. You don't need to log in, no spam emails. Just fire up Trail Boss and use it.
The basic Trail Boss has lots of functionality and many users find it suites their needs without a subscription. But a subscription unlocks some pretty cool features and we hope you'll consider purchasing one, it is priced very reasonably.
